Role :- Brewery Operator

Location :- Franciscan Well Brewery, Cork

 

The Franciscan Well Brewery was established in 1998 on a site in Cork City dating back 800 years to 1219. As well as developing a strong customer base, the brewery’s beers have received international critical acclaim including ‘Summer Saison’ winning Gold in the 2016 World Beer Awards. Other beers brewed on site include Friar Weisse, Blarney Blonde, Rebel Red and Chieftain IPA.

 

The Franciscan Well Brewery is also a part of Molson Coors Brewing Company Ireland which boasts such brands as Grolsch, Carling, Coors light and Sharp’s Doom Bar.

 

Due to a huge increase in demand, a brand new Franciscan Well brewery has been built in 2015 on the Docklands in Cork which increased production from 1,500HL per annum to a potential 75,000HL. The new facility operates to the standards of a global brewing company. The facility is operated through a combination of manual operations and computerised control systems.”

 

The increase in scale, automation and standard of operation means that we require a skilled Operator to come join us to help, and be a key part of our continued growth.

 

Responsible for the effective running of the brewing, process, and packaging functions, with flexibility to work between the areas. To ensure that all products produced comply with the correct specification, whilst utilising the most efficient and cost effective methods and adhering to all relevant quality, legal and food safety requirements. Ability to work and act individually when required.

 

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Operate specified processes and plant including change-over in accordance with standard operating procedures. Problem solve as appropriate and escalate concerns when required to the relevant party or line manager.
  • Operate departmental control and monitoring systems e.g. safety, quality, environmental and cost to maintain the highest standards of operations and support effective communication with the breweries. Complete records/logs as required.
  • Responsible for undertaking on-line quality checks to ensure product quality is within agreed specification at all parts of the process.
  • Work within all local hygiene, health & safety and environmental legislation and best practice, including and not limited to HACCP, COSHH, BRC, FEMAS, Safety and the Molson Coors way and maintain personal legislative training compliance. Maintain hygiene and safety standards.
  • Responsible for the achievement of production schedules whilst ensuring product quality, cost and customer deadlines are achieved. Work with others in the development of improved operations and practices.

 

To be considered for this position applicants will have the following:

 

  • Basic reading, writing and numerical skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Able to work effectively with other individuals whether internally or externally
  • Able to identify and report risks and hazards and report to the relevant personnel  
  • Experience of other brewing or food sector production roles
  • Ability to work flexibly to achieve department goals
  • Fork Lift Truck Licence
